A new play inspired by David Walker is being developed by Peter Snoad, an award-winning Boston playwright who is also active with The David Walker Memorial Project. Raising David Walker is a contemporary story of a young Black woman’s discovery of Walker and how it changes her life. The play will receive its third staged reading on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Newark Museum in Newark, NJ in a collaboration with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Details at: www.newarkmuseum.org. The premiere production of Raising David Walker will take place this fall at Hibernian Hall, a multicultural arts center in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston (dates to be announced.)
