RV'ing

6 Months living in a box

In 2012, an opportunity came up to take some extended time off work. For some time, we had wanted to see more of the country we live in, but were always limited to the bit of exploration that can be crammed into a few days' vacation. What we wanted to do was to see the country and especially explore the national parks at a relaxed pace, staying wherever the mood struck until it was time to move on. The "sabbatical" was a great shot at doing this while we were still young and all the parts working as they should.

Shortly before commencing our trip, Avril discovered blogging and kept a detailed diary of our experiences and the places we visited, complete with lots of photos. This was much better than anything I could write. You can check it out here: http://www.forsterraptorreport.blogspot.com/

Thoughts on RV's

While we were getting ready for our trip, we spent a lot of time on the internet, buying books and trying to learn as much as we could before buying into an RV and setting off on our extended trip. We found many sources of information on the internet from people who had gone before and graciously shared their experiences. In an attempt to give a little back, we collected much of what we learned and came up with "Thoughts on RV'ing", a short document that walks the reader through considerations involved in determining what kind of an RV to buy, how much it is going to cost and some of the practical considerations involved in living on the road for months at a time.
