Street Pastors

At Cornerstone we support Street Pastors who do an exceptional job at weekends on the streets of Corby. They patrol the streets on Saturday nights to assist revellers - young and old - stay safe and get home.

Street Pastors are Church Members gathered from all churches in Corby and they have been ever-present on the town's Saturday night-time streets since 2010. During that time, they have regularly been able to prevent young people coming to serious harm through exposure and over-indulgence - and on at least one occasion helping to prevent serious self-harm occurring.

Unfortunately at present, due to natural attrition - illness, moving from the area, retirements etc. - the number of active Street Pastors has dwindled to the extent that patrols can now only be carried out on the 1st, 4th and 5th (where applicable) Saturdays each month.

Consequently the Pastors are requesting our support to continue and, if possible, expand their work. They would like:

  • To hear from anyone who may be interested in joining the Street Pastors in their work. You should be over 18 and a Church Member (or willing to become one). Patrols take place between 11pm and 3am on the relevant Saturday nights.
  • They would also desperately like to know that we all support them in what they do.
If you feel unable to patrol you can help support the Group by COMING ALONG AND PRAYING WITH THEM BEFORE THEIR PATROL. They
meet at 10pm prior to going out on patrol in St.John's Church Hall, Church Walk, Corby, NN17 1XF
If you are interested, come along to the Church Hall at 10pm on the first or fourth Saturdays of every month and talk to one of the existing Group about their work, or if you would like to know more about the work of the Street Pastors then please email your query to giving some contact details or come along to St John's Church.
