Coaching Coaching is provided by a team of dedicated, voluntary, UK Athletics qualified coaches who cover all aspects of road running, cross country, track and field, triathlon and race walking. Track and Field
- Southern Mens Track and Field League - Division 3 East.
- Six Saturday matches between May and August. For age 15+ - all track and field disciplines.
- Southern Womens Track and Field League - Division 1
Six Saturday matches between April and September. For age 12+ - all track and field disciplines.
- East Anglian League
Four Sunday matches and a final between May and September. A league offering competition for male and female athletes in various age categories from 9 upwards.
- Eastern Veterans Track and Field League
Four Wednesday evening matches and a final from May to September.
- For men 40+ and women 35+
- Cross Country
- Essex Cross Country League
Five matches plus championships from October to February. The Essex league provides excellent competition for all ages from 11 upwards.
- 53-12 Cross Country League
Six Sunday matches plus national final for the winning team. Ten local clubs compete for a place in the final. Courses approximately five miles long. Also 1 to 1.5 mile race for juniors age 8 - 16
- Other Competition
Road Races and Relays The Club takes part in various races throughout the year from local fun runs to the London Marathon.
- Race Walking
The race walking section compete in the Essex League as well as county championship races. Ideal for experienced race walkers and beginners.
- Trail Racing
Runners compete in trail races all over the UK.
- Triathlon
Club members take part in triathlon/duathlon events all over the country.
- Club events
The club organises a number of events for club members throughout the year including handicap races, cross country races, mile races, trail races.
- The club also organises a local road race and other road, cross country and track and field events in conjunction with Essex County AAA.
- County, Regional and National Championships
- The club is affiliated to the major athletic bodies and receives regular notification and entry forms for all the major championships for club and school age athletes.
It regularly sends teams to compete in championships and has been very successful over the past few years.
- Other Harriers activities
The club has a very strong social programme for all members including such activities as discos, barn dances, theatre trips, annual dinner and dance, children's Christmas party, swimming nights, cricket matches, quiz nights etc.
- The club provides refreshments on track nights and at club events.
- The club has, for many years, actively supported Hamilton Lodge, a local home providing care for people with learning disabilities, raising funds for the home throughout the year.
- Coaching, Officiating and Administration
If you dont want to compete, but would like to become involved in athletics, the club provides opportunities for coaches and officials.
- There are also opportunities to assist with club administration and event organisation.
- Harriers club kit
- Club kit is available at reasonable prices including club vests, long/short sleeved T-shirts and sweatshirts. Club vests are essential for competitions
- Kit can be ordered/purchased at the track on Thursday nights or at the Arena on Friday nights.
