Varsity Girls Team - Email from Assistant Coach Jacob Jordan

All,

Good afternoon! For those of you I haven't met, I'm Coach Jordan, and I'll be your coach starting this Fall. I know this week will be busy with the holiday and start of school, so I'd like to lay out a tentative plan for the week:

- Tuesday September 3rd I'd like to meet down at WSRC for a plain-clothes practice. We won't be running or erging, but rather going over the equipment we'll be using this fall and making sure it's in working order. Plan to go from 6pm to 7:30pm. I will be collecting individual contact information on this day, as well as height, weight, school year, ect.

- Wednesday September 4th we will begin standard practice from 5:30am to 7:30am. I'd like this to mean that everyone arrives at 5:15, boats hit the water at 5:30, and we return to the docks at 7:00-7:15 depending on work load. This will allow plenty of time to run through a quick core routine, as well as shower and change before class while school is in session. All waivers, contact info, and other CHS paperwork should be turned into myself or Coach Lonas by the end of this practice.

- Thursday, September 5th and Friday, September 6th will also be practice at the normal time (5:30am to 7:30am)

- Saturday, September 7th will be practice from 8am to 10am. As the fall season progresses, I'd like to make this a 3 hour practice (7 to 10am or 8 to 11am) in order to maximize water time.

As far as the rest of the season is concerned, things will be relatively simple. On the rowing end, Practice will be held 5:30 to 7:30am on weekdays, with a longer Saturday practice if the squad isn't competing. Lineups will be determined based on merit, with the goal of producing as many competitive boats as possible while also ensuring the long-term health of the squad. Seniors will be given preference in priority boats, but empty seats will be filled with the rowers that perform best, regardless or age/year. Lineups will be the coach's decision alone, but should a parent have questions regarding their selection, I'll be more than happy to answer them. Communication will be run exclusively through email correspondence, with information being passed directly to rowers with Coach Lonas, CHS Crew, and parents in the CC field in order to ensure that all parties stay informed. Rowers and parents should contact me directly through my buffalo.edu email (jordan3@buffalo.edu) if there are any issues, and rowers will have my Cell number in case of emergencies. Please do not send emails to the email list by hitting reply all.

If you do not plan on rowing this season, please let me know by Tuesdays practice, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. See you Tuesday!

Jacob Jordan
