I hope everyone’s first day back to school was a good one! As you know, this weekend we begin our fall parent meetings and practices. Below is a list of parent/athlete meeting times and each teams’ practice schedule.

Categories:

9-12th graders who have never rowed on City Honors Crew team are considered novice.

7-8th graders who have never participated in any City Honors Crew Camp or WSRC crew camp are considered modified.

8th graders who have participated in City Honors Crew modified or two WSRC summer camps can try out for novice or remain in modified another year.

9th graders who rowed novice/freshman for City Honors Crew last year will remain in the novice/freshman group another year.

FIRST PRACTICES:

Saturday, September 6th.

Varsity boys 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Novice (new) athletes, both boys and girls 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Monday, September 8th

Varsity girls 5:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE:

Varsity boys 5:30a.m. – 7:30a.m. Monday thru Friday& Saturday 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Varsity girls 5:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Novice (new) athletes, both boys and girls 9/6/14 thru 9/20/14 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Saturday 2p.m.-5p.m.

9/21/14 thru 11/9/14 The novice/freshman girls practice will remain on the same schedule Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. & Saturday 2p.m.-5p.m.

The novice/freshman boys will move to an earlier timeslot on Tuesday, Wednesday& Thursday 3p.m. – 5:30p.m. & Saturday 2p.m.-5p.m.

Modified athletes, both boys & girls 9/14/14 thru 10/19/14 Practices will be Friday 3 – 5:30 & Sunday 1-4

FALL REGATTAS

The following is a list of confirmed regattas for fall. Not all completive athletes will participate in all regattas. Regattas which require boats to qualify and/or be petitioned into must be approved by Head Coach Kim Lonas prior to participation. This approval will be sent via email to the athlete and the parents of those who qualify after all determining factors have been considered. Modified do not compete, but will be invited to attend the Head of the Niagara & Hogan Fries Regattas, which are local.

Fall Regattas are typically 5000 meters

September 27 Head of the Welland Welland, ON Varsity Only

October 4 Head of the Genesee Rochester, NY

October 12 Head of the Niagara Buffalo, NY Please note this regatta has been moved to Sunday

November 1 Hogan Fries Buffalo, NY

TEAM MEETINGS

Varsity boys & girls Saturday, September 13th 9:00 a.m. Varsity athletes will have regular practice beginning at 7:00a.m., but will come off the water early to participate.

Novice (new) athletes, both boys and girls Saturday, September 6th 2:00 p.m. There will be a practice for all novice athletes immediately following the meeting, which will last until 5:00p.m.

FALL DUES & REGISTRATION– Competitive Teams Only

Online registration is now open on regattacentral.com. For our new families, I have attached an instruction sheet to help with the process. Please note, coaches cannot take checks from our athletes. Please mail your payments.

WSRC Dues are $300

Registration is due prior to first practice

FALL DUES – Modified

Modified registration has not yet posted on regattacentral.com. It should post within the next day or so. As soon as it does, I will send a separate email communication. Last season's modified dues were $175 to give you an idea of cost. Once I have a firm number, I will confirm it with everyone.
