Board of Directors

On April 7, 2014, the COP Board welcomed new members and reminisced with departing members. Jennifer Duce officially took the reigns as the Director of the Healthy Meals Kitchen and Barbara Gordon was nominated as a member at large. Linda Stanley completed her Board service and Evelyn Roberts received a life-time appointment as a honorary Board member.

Mary Elrod, President
Mary is an active member of the Page community, who is involved in many local philanthropic activities. As the Chair of the Board of Directors, Mary offers a vision of helping others coupled with quality community services that optimize available resources. Mary is co-owner and treasurer of Lake Powell Marine, a boutique houseboat management firm offering a range of services on Lake Powell. Leveraging this business experience, Mary brings a valuable understanding of small business management and organizational financial management.

Sharon Hopkins, Vice President and Emergency Assistance Co-Director
Sharon has a degree in small business management coupled with a compassionate soul. For 16 years she owned a business in Michigan, before retiring to Page. For more than a decade prior to that she taught and managed a vocational school. These previous experiences have honed the ability to truly empathize with others. Among other duties, Sharon works on the front lines, interviewing clients, handling the finances and dispersing funds. 

Debi Marquis, Secretary
Debi has lived in Page since 1983 and been an integral part of COP since the inception of the organization.As the senior administrative assistant to the plant manager at the Salt River Project (SRP) Navajo Generating Station , she brings an important connection to both the Navajo community and the SRP corporate partnership. Dei is also the lead for the Christmas Angel program, which spreads the joy of the holiday to children through the COP region.

Connie Tkalcevic, Emergency Assistance Co-Director
Connie and her husband John moved to Page in 1973, where she worked for over 25 years as a P.E. Teacher, H.S. Librarian and Coach with the Page Public Schools. She is an active member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Page, AZ, and an active contributor to the Circle of Page. Connie has been involved with the Circle of Page since the inception of the Food Pantry by St. David's over 10 years ago and continues today as fund administrator for the Salvation Army and Circle of Page. The constituents of the Circle of Page welcome Connie’s compassion and caring help.

Ruth Solomon, Banquet Food Pantry Director
Ruth is a music therapist with the Zion’s Way Home Health and Hospice. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,she also serves as a volunteer instructor for the Family History Center. Ruth’s dedication to the Circle of Page is deep and her commitment to the Food Pantry stellar. Under her leadership, the pantry has become an integral part of our services. She works with a variety of non-profit and for-profit partners to ensure a balanced assortment of goods are available for the food boxes and during the busy time rallies groups of volunteers to achieve Circle of Page program needs.

Jennifer Duce, Healthy Meals Kitchen Director
Jennifer is one of the newer members of the Circle of Page Board and a recent transplant to Page. A local representative for Allison’s Pantry, a family-run company distributing prepared foods to rural communities, she brings nearly five years of experience as the food coordinator for the Idaho Community Action Network (ICAN). In this role, Jennifer ordered and coordinated the distribution of monthly food boxes to low income families in Pocatello, Idaho. She is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Elizabeth Holmes, Member at Large
Elizabeth has been a member of the Page community since 1982 when she moved here from St. Louis to work on the lake for the summer. Her husband Bart and she raised their three kids in Page and are now blessed with a grandson. Elizabeth works as a health educator for the Tobacco and Chronic Disease Prevention Program at Coconino County Public Health Services District and co-facilitates the Page Community Resource Team. She brings to the Circle of Page in-depth knowledge of the support systems available to region’s most vulnerable families.

Barbara Gordon, Member at Large
New to the Lake Powell region, Barbara has been helping the Circle of Page for more than a year with web site development. A registered dietitian and public health professional, she brings an understanding of nutrition coupled with expertise in health awareness programs. Through a variety of past positions, Barbara accumulated extensive experience with nonprofit organizations. Her small consulting firm, HealthComm Solutions, provides wellness coaching and health program development for nonprofits and businesses.

Evelyn Roberts, Honorary Member
Evelyn is a retired pastor of Page Community United Methodist Church, the site of the Healthy Meals Kitchen. Evelyn has deep community roots. She taught school in Page for two decades prior to entering the ministry. Retired from her role as full-time pastor after 17 more years of caring work. Evelyn is also an active member of the Four Corners Native American Ministry. To recognize her significant contribution to the Circle of Page, Evelyn was unanimously nominated as a life-time Honorary Board Member.
