About us

The Society of Historical Research on Chinese Women has been working mainly in the Tokyo area, Japan. The society was started by 4 scholars, including Reico Setsugu, Setsuko Yanagida and Kanako Maeyama in September 1977. Today, it’s membership has grown to over 100.

Our activities include a monthly seminar and yearly retreat, both of which promote reading and discussion of the historiography related to the subject.
