50-50 IV

Sanchez Art Center 8/24-9/30/2012

Summer 2012, I was again part of an annual show at the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica, "50-50 IV" featuring 70 artists who each created 50 pieces in 50 days! Working with the theme "Bridging Borders", I used B/W photography as a layer for some of my acrylic paintings.

Visit the Sanchez Art Center for the full details. The galleries are open Friday - Sunday, 1-5PM at 1220 Linda Mar Blvd. in Pacifica.

Directions: To get to SAC, take 280 South to Highway 1 into Pacifica. Go Left (inland) on Linda Mar 1.3 miles and turn right

into the parking lot in front of the complex. Walk past the mural covered auditorium building and enter the East and West Galleries.

The Opening reception 9/24/12 was very well attended and a lot of people took home some great and affordable small pieces.

Here's a snapshot of my spot (foreground) in the East Wing gallery on setup day.

2011 Open Studios at Fort Mason was Oct 22 and 23. Oodles of kind folks came

around to see the art by over 100 artists. I was showing in room C370

along with a great group of artists- we call ourselves ArtCoLab SF and photos of

this event are available on our site.

Perhaps you missed the Friday night Open Studios preview party -

don't miss it next year! The Off the Grid food trucks, live music and a warm summer night helped make it a blast.

50-50 III

Summer 2011 I was very excited to be part of an annual show at the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica. "50-50 III" featured

70 artists, each creating 50 pieces in 50 days!

Here's what it looked like as we assembled it. My work is second from right.

Friday August 26th, 6-9PM was the public opening and the place was packed. Each artist chose a theme

for their series and there were paintings, photographs, all kinds of mixed media and even a folded paper sculpture piece.

Thursday night's preview was lively and I got a chance to read more of the artists' blurbs which informed

and enhanced the experience for me. Artists embrace their identity, dreams, memory, mistakes

and their place in the world. A super show!

Preview night, Thursday, the Main Gallery was sedate.

Opening night, Friday was busy with art lovers. This pic shows the roomy Main Gallery. The East & West Galleries were packed!!!

My submission is a study of color, food, farming and more. Here's a snapshot.

My piece, "Beyond Chow" echoes themes from Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land" and contemporary concerns about seed stock licensing and sustainability.

This show closed with another reception on Sunday, October 2nd where some of us traded panels of with other artists.

Exhibition History is available here.
