Mark Ross is currently the Acting President. This will change with the announcement of a new principal.
Hello, my name is Tony Alessi. On the 27th of March I was privileged and honoured to be elected as President of the School Council. I would like to thank the outgoing president, Darren Forrest for his long and tireless contribution to the School Council and our school in general.
The School Council's function is to set policies that essentially determine how our school looks and functions. The School Council is by legislation structured so that PARENTS have a majority of the votes. This means that a well functioning School Council sets policies that reflect the values and needs of the school and the local community.
Your parent representatives on the council are Mark Ross (Vice President), Denise Smith (Friends of Chaffey chairwoman), Ray Alabaster and Kerry-Anne Roberts. Community co-opted members are myself and Frank Piscioneri. Your staff representatives a Nat Mouvet (Acting Principal), Tracy Fernandez, Anne Hines and Sarah Broster. The school bursar, Kay Nalder also attends meetings in a non-voting role.
If you have any matters that are policy related please contact me or any of your other representatives, as we would be pleased to listen and ensure your needs and queries are passed to the appropriate people.
At our last meeting the issue of student behaviour was discussed and the council has expressed concern at the level of misbehaviour that ranges from simply mischievous to actually dangerous. The council agreed that it is unacceptable for staff and other students to feel threatened and disrespected and is supportive of zero tolerance in regard to disrespectful behaviour which includes not following instructions from staff, rude or threatening behaviour to staff and fellow students and any potentially dangerous behaviour. As a community we expect our children and our staff to feel safe and respected at all times, and this means that every individual student and their families have a responsibility and important role to play in OUR community.
Yours faithfully
