General Information on DAAD Study Tours

Thanks to generous funding by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) the Centres for German and European Studies at York University and at Université de Montréal have planned and conducted Study Tours to Germany since 2008. DAAD Study Tours to Hamburg and Freiburg (2014), the German-Polish border region (2013), to Stuttgart and Freiburg (2012), to Hamburg (2011), to Dortmund and to the Ruhr area (2010), or to the Neue Länder (2008) have allowed Canadian students to gain unique experiences of German contemporary culture, society and language.

Study Tours provide opportunities for encounters and exchange with representatives from many different areas of society. Take a look at the programme of past Study Tours to get an idea of the variety of experts who have welcomed Study Tour groups and have shared their knowledge with us. Many of the participating students have extended their stays in Germany after a Study Tour for internships and research trips.

Students have posted feedback as well as some of their term papers, reports and reflections resulting from Study Tours on Transition Towns, to the Polish-German border region, to Stuttgart&Freiburg, to Hamburg and to the Ruhr area.
