After losing seven seniors in the prior season, the players returning for the 2015-16 CBHS Frozen Wave Ice Hockey Team knew there would be a steep learning curve for the new players and a lot of rebuilding to do.  The team suffered the loss of key players due to injuries in the first half and only earned one win and one tie in the first seven games.  However if there is one word that describes this team, it is persistent.  The 8 new players continued to improve and learn the hockey system taught by coach Tom Mantel and once all the key players regained health, the team improved to a 6 win, one loss, and one tie record the second half of the season.  The bid to make it to the state tournament came down to the last regular season game against rival North Mississippi with the Brothers needing a win to advance.  They went down by 2 goals to none in the first period, but fought back through the 2nd and 3rd periods to claim a four to three win and a trip to the state tournament in Knoxville.  With the team constantly improving, they carried their late season momentum into the state tourney, wining their first three games and emerging as the favorites to win.  However, they came up short in the final game, losing four to two and earning 2nd place.  The team's final season record, including the games in the state tourney was 11-7-2.  Senior Team Captain and ace defensive specialist, Jared Pillow, Junior Assistant Captain, Center and leading scorer, Michael Feehan, and league leader in goal, Sean Moskal were the major force behind the team's success along with Freshman standout and State Tourney MVP J.J. Landers, Senior Jordan Grube, and State Tourney best defensive player Joshua Lord as well as all the supporting cast of players who fought so hard to make the season an amazing success.
