My first week focused on training. I was given safety training videos that covered an array of topics. The
videos taught everything from how to get a fleet vehicle unstuck, to how to walk in waders. I was pleased to have the opportunity to put my lab safety training to good use later in the week while processing National Water-Quality Assessment Program (NAQWA) samples.
When processing water samples I learned how to calibrate pH instruments, measure and calculate stream water turbidity, operate magnetic stirrers and properly clean lab equipment.
