Woolovers

Woolovers are one of our favorite products that we cannot say enough good things about! We have been working with this company directly since 2000 to develop a calf jacket that works for us in all of the challenging conditions we encounter in Wisconsin. Why chose Woolover jackets over the other brands?

1) They stay on the animal way better than anything else we have tried. Over the years, we've communicated with the company to update the design so that they are easier to put on, are comfortable for the calves, and fit better so they are much more likely to stay on the animal. A jacket doesn't do you any good if it is sitting next to your calf.

2) The wool doesn't trap the moisture like other materials do. This is so important in our cold temperatures and sometimes wet environments. Other jackets that we have tried have been insulated, quilted, fleece, or other materials, and all of them worked fine for a day or two until the moisture built up and then froze. The calves got damp and cold... not a good combination. Generally speaking, we can leave a Woolover jacket on our calves for months and it keeps them warm and dry.

3) When calves are warm and dry, they can use more of their calorie intake toward growing and staying healthier. Without the jackets, the calves use more energy toward staying warm and can't use that energy for growing.

4) Woolover jackets provide better core coverage than other jackets we have tried. A larger percentage of the calf's body is covered, which makes a big difference in retaining heat.

5) They are very cost effective when you consider the cost of the jacket versus the rate of gain for the animal. The jackets are very durable, and with washing we typically have been able to use them more than once.
