16 December 2018. This year we did our ever-popular Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols with orchestra twice--at 15H and 19H30--due to popular demand. We filled the church twice. This time the orchestra was 38 strong and there were around 50 singers.
We had the usual menu of carols in English, French, Netherlands, and German: Les anges dans nos campagnes, Stille Nacht, and many more including my ding-dong arrangement of While Shepherds Watched. And the new Ding Dong March composed for the occasion.
You can hear all the music on Youtube here. You can hear the Ding Dong March too. And here is Les anges dans nos campagnes.
Happy Christmas to all our friends. |

| Haydn Kleineorgelmesse
On 1 July, we gathered all our forces to sing the Haydn Kleineorgelmesse in Holy Trinity as our end of term cadenza, before we all go on our long summer break. We've sung it before of course. And it sounded even better than last time. Melodic, sweet, short, and to the point. Our good friend Pablo Lascano played the organ solo. |

St John Passion
On Good Friday, 30 March 2018, we presented our seventh Bach Passion. This time it was the Saint John Passion. The Evangelist was José Alonso Pizarro and Jesus was Ivan Ludlow. Soprano and altus soli were Auriane Sacoman and Jan Wouters. Pilate was sung Lodewijk Regout.
As ever, we were accompanied by an orchestra of Baroque specialist musicians, graduates of the Conservatoire Royale, playing at A 415 on their oboes da caccia and d'amore, on cembalo and viola da gamba. The orchestra was led by Katja Katanova. The chorus and minor soli were from Holy Trinity and our friends. I felt this was our best-ever Passion performance. I was very happy to hear that many folk in the congregation agreed. See www.passiontoperform.eu.
