Starting at the age of 12, Mandy wore a bulky back brace for 5 years to treat a spinal curvature .  “I knew what it felt like to appear different from others.   Riding horses regularly during those years gave me self-confidence and courage, as well as physical benefits - horses can impart athleticism and beauty."  She continued a year of horsemanship courses at Auburn University while pursuing a nursing degree, owning horses and a home farm soon after graduating.

While working in nursing administration at a facility for children and adolescents with severe behavioral/psychiatric issues, she became active teaching onsite horsemanship lessons, and active in the larger industry of "EAAT" - Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies.  "I saw firsthand the life skills that horses help teach."

Mandy has owned a dozen horses & taught many riders with and without special needs over approximately 30 years.  She has presented at national and regional conferences; authored educational materials; developed lesson, camp, pony party, IEA, therapeutic riding & hippotherapy services, and managed equestrian programming for Chastain Horse Park, an 80 stall multi-use equestrian facility.  Two of her lesson students have been honored with PATH Intl "Rider of the Year" awards, and she is honored as the 2018 PATH Region V Intl Credentialed Professional of the Year.  "God has provided a fulfilling career in which to share the joy I experience with horses.”   Her lessons are provided at clients' homes & accredited PATH Intl facilities.

Mandy and her  husband Lyle reside in Fayetteville.   They have two sons, Darin and Daniel.
