Joining the Choir

Joining any organisation can be a bit of  a daunting experience, particularly if you have no existing contacts that can make the necessary introductions.
Recognising this, and in an effort to make joining our choir as easy as possible, we have established a process that welcomes new members with the minimum of formality.
If you have attended one of our concerts, we hope you will appreciate that above all else the choir get tremendous enjoyment from our singing, and that we have achieved a very high level of performance. This is in no small measure down to the professional standards set by our husband and wife team Robin and Isobel Cheer ( Musical Director and Pianist).
A good sense of humour is essential and a thick skin is helpful because leg pulling is par for the course.

Our rehearsals which take place at Longridge Towers School, on Wednesday evenings, start in early September through till April. Our concerts take place in Berwick , other parts of the North East  and throughout the Scottish Borders. In August 2016, we are embarking on a short concert tour in Norway.

To take the first step you could simply fill in the form below, and someone will get back to you. You could also pick up the phone and call  Robin Cheer or Jim Blythe ( see contacts page).

Additionally we have "OPEN" nights when interested choristers can join us for a trial sing. ( see events)

Whoever you speak to will explain how to proceed and hopefully you will feel encouraged to come along, meet the troops and have a bit of a sing.

On your first evening Robin will have a chat and together you will decide which section of the choir you will be best suited to.

Each section has a leader and he will look after you until you settle in.  He will organise your music, and generally get you up to speed with things like Choir Dress, etc.

None of us sing like Pavarotti and not all of us read music, but we all respond to the encouragement we get and are better singers for it. Collectively we achieve a standard that compares with the best choirs in the country.

We really do hope that you feel encouraged to join us and look forward to your company.
