Contemporary Jewish Museum: Celebrates their Completed Torah

posted Mar 23, 2011, 10:46 AM by BIJ Educator   [ updated Mar 30, 2011, 1:14 PM ]
A dialogue between As it is Written: Project 304, 805 scribe Julie Seltzer and her teacher, Jen Taylor Friedman, celebrates the completion of Seltzer’s 16-month task of writing a Torah as part of the CJM’s exhibition. This is the only Torah in existence written entirely by one soferet (female scribe).
As is traditional in Jewish culture, a reception with music and dancing follow the siyyum (completion) of a Torah.
NOTE:  BIJ’S own Rabbi Rosalind participated in the proofing of this very special scroll.
