About me

I studied social psychology at the Radboud University Nijmegen and obtained my MSc degree in 2008 (cum laude). I started my PhD in the same year under supervision of Prof. Dr. Rick van Baaren and Prof. Dr. Ap Dijksterhuis. During this time, I explored the influence of anthropomorphism, perceived intentionality, and perspective taking on human/non-human interactions. I defended my dissertation in March 2013. Staying as a post-doc at the department of Developmental Psychology of the Ludwig Maximilian University Munich, my research explored the neural correlates of metacognition in children and adults. Since September 2013, I am working at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, first at the the department of Social and Cultural Psychology, since November 2016 at the Communication & Media department. Besides doing research, in 2014 I finished the bachelor program for professional training in psychosynthesis at the Dutch Institute for Psychosynthesis in Hilversum.

Next to human/non-human interactions, my research interests focus on the promotion of sustainability behaviour via different social influence techniques and the use of new technologies and social media. Furthermore, I investigate how resistance to change can be avoided. I am especially interested in the development and neural correlates of these phenomena, both in young children, adults, and elderly. For more information about my collaborators click here.
