The test results for the final test run are shown below. Errors which came to light during earlier test runs were corrected and all tests gave expected results:
Test 1: Test Password
When the correct password was entered, login succeeded else an error message was displayed.
Test 2: Enter Students’ & Employees’ record in the empty database
The students and employees records entered successfully when the valid data was entered otherwise the “Casual Save Failure” error message was displayed and the operation was cancelled:
If an attempt was made to save the record of an employee or a student without entering the name or other compulsory information, the system’s intelli-logic bounced back the following message (error):
For if a field marked “Required” was left empty the Realschule’s reply was an error message “Caution”:-
Test 3: Enter New Book record in the database.
The New Book record entered successfully when the valid data was entered otherwise the “Casual Save Failure” error message was displayed and the operation was cancelled:
Again overlooking a required field caused the “Caution” error message to halt the operation:
Test 4: Enter Basic Pay Information in the Database
When, entering the details of Basic pay, lower limit of it is deliberately entered greater than that of its upper limit the following error message was generated:
When system encountered invalid entry in either the Lower Limit or the Higher Limit, i.e., non-numeric entry then the following error message was blown and the operation was not allowed to be completed successfully.
Test 5: Enter Class Information in the empty database.
Class setup went smoothly without error. The reason was that the invalid entries were checked and knocked down during entering the data itself.
Test 6: Attempting to generate fee and receipt information
The fee and receipt information generated successfully and the amount were calculated automatically. The fee no: and receipt no: were generated automatically.
The fee & receipt generation were done on the basis of data previously saved in the database. However, any attempt to incorrectly fill the fields meant for currency data type was forcibly discouraged by The RealschuleeXp 2005 and the user was informed with:
Test 7: Preparing the annual accounting statement
Depending on the income and expenditure of the school in a given fiscal year accounting reports were generated automatically. Since the process was almost automatic so there were few chances of errors. However, this module was put into peak load testing. The results were encouraging and system behaved reliably for medium to higher load. However, at the downside it faltered a few times when it was stressed by increasing the volume of data to a much higher level. Nevertheless, the system recovered from initial ‘NOT RESPONDING’ states after a few anxious minutes.
Test 8: Preparing time tables
Whenever a period was tried to be allotted to a teacher who was already engaged, system alerted the user of the same. Any alteration in the schedule went smoothly with the following alert:
Test 9: Preparing Examination Schedules
All the tests that applied to the time table procedure were suitable for the Examination Scheduling module also. So the same set of tests was conducted to test this module.
Test 9: Preparing Report Card of Students
The text boxes meant to capture the marks obtained by a student were tested to see if they accept anything else numeric data ranging from 0 to 100. When a user entered an invalid data system showed the following message box:
