"Gabinat" - Tirano 5 january at 3:00 PM

It is a tradition , probably of Swiss or German origin ( in German " Gabe - Nacht " meaning night of the gifts ) , which takes place every year on January 5th. Exactly at the stroke of 3:00 PM, the first tolling of the church bells of the country, children leave home alone or in small groups and go from house to house greeting all those who encounter with the ancient expression of good wishes " Gabinat ! ". It is a contest of speed and cunning, where he won the first between the two that can pronounce the word " Gabinat ! ". The winner is entitled to receive a gift as a reward for the good wishes, usually sweets, nuts and various small gifts. Pay " Gabinat " is a matter of honor and that the loser will have to pay off the debt .

Feast of the Epiphany - Tirano 5 January 8:30 PM

Tobogganing in the moonlight with the Red Train
