Bay Area Soaring Associates (BASA)

Bay Area Soaring Associates Inc. is a group of pilots who love to fly in high performance sailplanes. BASA has been based in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 30 years, and we fly in some of the best soaring territory and conditions in the world. The Club owns five sailplanes, two of which are two place ships.

BASA is not an instructional club, but is dedicated to improving the soaring skills of our members by encouraging all forms of safe soaring, including cross-country, mountain, and high altitude wave. BASA may be your next club if you are:

  • A newly licensed soaring pilot, and want to develop your proficiency in high performance sailplanes at low cost, or
  • A serious badge pilot, interested in maturing your cross-country and wave flying skills with other experienced pilots, or
  • A potential sailplane owner, wishing to assess the realities of owning your own ship, as well as meet potential partners, or
  • A soaring pilot, who would like easy access to sleek and well equipped two place ships to give rides to friends and relatives economically, as well as sharing the sport with like minded pilots

For more information, please take a look at the membership page, or contact our membership chair.
