Aspects For Safety, LLC 

You will discover a company dedicated to promote improving aspects of safety for professionals in the workplace and daily life. By consulting with AFS, corporations and facilities' business professionals will discover and gain insight and experience for instilling their staff with the relevance and knowledge of human factors skills.  These skills, in return, motivate safer behaviors in and outside the workplace.   

Our mission is to provide techniques that will make safety issues become more apparent and expressible. 

AFS’s courses will focus upon bringing the understanding of human factors and the human factor elements to the work force through a combination of dynamic and interactive learning modules. They are oriented to deliver a hands on approach to increased awareness of employees' perceptions and actions involving safe operations.  Learning will be enhanced for the applicants leading to insights that will foster safer practices in their environment.


Our Courses:


*The Initial Program

It will offer comprehensive overview training for employees involving the human factors methodology including its history and an introduction to the elements that it encompasses such as teambuilding, communication, decision making, situational awareness, workload management and “threat and error” management.  This training program will be deployed in two modular sessions, four hours each.


Understanding Human Factors - Comprehensive Training

- Module I  -  Understanding Human Factors – “Introduction, Communication, Team Building, Decision Making”    

- Module II  -  Understanding Human Factors – “Situational Awareness, Workload Management, Error Management” 

  

Course Intent:                 

Each course is oriented to deliver a “hands on” approach to increased awareness of the concepts of Human Factors and actions involving safe operations. Human Factors is based around the accepted “Elements” of Human Factors. These are recognized and promoted throughout corporations in various training courses and concepts.  This commonality encompasses: Team Building, Communication, Situational Awareness, Decision Making, Workload Management, and Error Management. 

Our approach will be how to mitigate threats and potential errors that will result in a safety oriented work force and environment. The Human Factors course provides insight how employees can become critically aware of how their environment and people they work and interact with affect their lives.

 

Then, recommended recurrent annual training can be provided to build upon the learning concepts from the initial class through the involvement of interactive case studies, taking the training to a deeper level of understanding. This interactive class is three hours in length.

Understanding Human Factors - Annual Training

- Managing Threats and Errors . . . A Proactive Approach   

Course Intent

"Managing Threats and Errors . . . A Proactive Approach" examines the topic of a "Just Culture - Developmental Strategies for a Safety Culture".  This encompasses the use of every skill introduced to in the Human Factors Initial Course.  It examines our role as to how we fit in with the “Just Culture” concept, that is, the errors made can be not only corrected by us modifying our behavior but as well proactive modifications made by management. It examines Errors as unsafe acts unintentionally committed. The course takes an in-depth look at threats and risks that are around us and explores ways to mitigate them through workshop scenarios.


CE Activity Course Approval

AFS, LLC is approved to offer Ohio Nursing Professionals the "Managing Threats and Errors...A Proactive Approach" course for 2.8 CE credit. This CE activity, OLN-S-1459-12 being offered by Aspects For Safety, LLC has been approved for 2.8 contact hours by the Ohio Board of Nursing through the approver unit at the Ohio League for Nursing (OBN-006-92) and this program is approved to be offered through March 12, 2015.


*Advanced Courses
 

Advanced courses are offered emphasizing developing personal improvement and professional performance that creates an engaged workforce. These classes will be deployed using three hour interactive sessions.

Advanced Skill Set Productivity Training

- Utilizing Emotional Intelligence 

Course Intent

This course is based upon giving participants skill sets to examine their own "Emotional Intelligence" regarding how they, as employees, apply the Human Factors skill set elements of Communication, Decision Making, Situational Awareness, Teamwork, Workload Management and Error Management into their daily lives. Emotional Intelligence is about the ability to perceive emotion, integrate emotion to facilitate thought, understand emotions and to regulate emotions to promote personal growth. The EI model proposes that individuals vary in their ability to process information of an emotional nature and in their ability to relate emotional processing to a wider cognition. 
 

- Leadership Factors for Success 

Course Intent

A course focusing on a "hands on" analysis and introspection of one's personal leadership skill sets. The course will explore the concept of developing your leadership skills to help define what is involved in managing any particular situation that may arise. It will give a more comprehensive understanding towards a) what leadership is; b) how communication, assertiveness and conflict management can assist the leader; c) how a team environment can be beneficial to leaders and followers; d) examining the leader's character and integrity and developing a personal understanding of each; and e) developing the participants own personal "skill sets". 



- Leading and Managing in a Team Environment 

Course Intent

This course is based around practical leadership philosophies to assist all management personnel, regardless of department or organizational status with insightful information about effective leadership.  Leading and Managing in a Team Environment will be taught with a facilitative approach to provide the applicant a deeper understanding on how to maintain relationships, productivity and form allies between leaders and employees. The course will take an in-depth look at discovering what leadership is and can accomplish for us, the “Categories of Leaders”, the influence of an exceptional leader and influence conveyed.  In addition, the course examines the various levels of leadership, the importance of developing priorities, determining the difference between leaders and followers, and examining integrity.
