Margaret Stancil Individual Professional Development Award
Mrs. Margaret Rawls Stancil was a native of Pamlico County in North Carolina. She received her early education at Bayboro Elementary School and graduated from Stonewall High School. She attended and received her degree from East Carolina University and furthered her education at UNC Chapel Hill. She taught school for a number of years in Raleigh, NC, and Smithfield, NC, and held administrative positions with the New Bern and Craven County school systems for many years. As a former member of the Alpha Psi chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, she wanted her support for education to continue even after her death in October 2011. Her generous endowment to the Alpha Psi chapter supports current educators in Craven and Pamlico counties by assisting them with funding for professional development opportunities.
