Who Can Become a Worker?

Anyone can become a worker. You do not need to sell items in order to become a worker. Sellers who work one 4-hour shift receive 70% of their sales. Workers who do not consign and complete a full 4-hour shift will receive 1 ticket to the Presale which occurs prior to opening to the public. Sorry, no children are allowed at the Presale. Children may not accompany you to your work shift. See below for guidelines and shift descriptions.

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES:

We appreciate and could not do without the help of our workers, and are grateful for your donation of time. We count on your help for the full shift. Please sign up for a shift only if you can be there the whole time. In fairness to all, there are no exceptions. If you sign up for a work shift and then find you cannot fulfill that shift after the sign-up deadline has passed you may either:

  • find a reliable replacement and call me to let me know who your replacement is.

  • call me to arrange to switch to a different shift.

If you sign up to work and do not come to your shift without notice, you will be restricted from participation in future sales.

SHIFT DESCRIPTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

SET-UP: Some moving and lifting of tables, small shelving, racks, boxes, & general set-up of the physical sale layout.

CHECK-IN (DROP-OFF): This shift is when consignor items are inspected and accepted for the sale. Consignors arrive by appointment with their tagged items. Attention to detail is essential, and the ability to recognize flaws. Sorting and placing of all in-coming items (clothing, toys, books, large items, etc.) is done at this time. Consignors working this shift may sign up for up to two drop-off appointments during their work shift.

ORGANIZING & SALE SET-UP: This shift begins when all items have been accepted and checked in. This shift is about merchandising and getting all the displays ready for the sale. A commitment to displaying everything in the best interest of the sale, and making everything visible to the shopper is required.

SALE WORKER: This shift requires similar responsibilities to working in a store. We need help with greeting shoppers, bagging merchandise, keeping merchandise organized, placing misplaced items, assisting shoppers, and general support to keep the sale running smoothly. You will be assigned a task during the brief worker orientation before the shift begins.

PRESALE WORKER: Same as a sale worker (above), although working this shift means you will not be shopping during the Presale. It is essential that we have a full staff of workers for the Presale and because of this we will allow you to do some shopping before the Presale begins for about 45 minutes.

1/2 PRICE SALE WORKER: Same as a sale worker (above), but this shift takes place on 1/2 price day. Workers who sign up for this shift will have the option to shop early before their shift begins.

SORTING/CONSIGNOR PICK-UP: This is a fast-paced shift where all unsold, colored-tagged items need to be separated from the white-tagged items and sorted by seller number, so that consignors can pick-up their unsold items. Attention to details and reading tags carefully is essential to ensure all items end up with the right owners.

BREAKDOWN & CLEAN-UP: This is where all tables, racks, shelving, baskets, etc. are dissembled, broken down, packed up, and loaded up.
