Acting One

(No Prerequisite, grades 9-12)

Build your self-confidence, polish your expressive skills, explore your creativity, and have fun all at the same time! Through voice and movement work, improvisation, and theatre games you will become more comfortable working onstage. Discover how to make acting choices and learn how to create characters for scenes and monologues.


Technical Theatre

(No Prerequisite, grades 9-12)

Learn about producing, directing and stage managing; set design, construction and scene painting; lighting, sound and props design; costume and makeup design; and publicity and program design. Get hands-on experience in the technical aspects of theatre art! ***Please note this class will require after school and weekend work on the production.


Musical Theatre Production

(Prerequisite: Acting I or Technical Theatre, grades 10-12)

Explore the art of musical theatre by participating in the production and performance process! Be in the cast or on the crew of the SDA musical and earn Visual and Performing Arts credit. ***Please note this class will require after school and weekend work on the musical.


Drama Production

(Prerequisite: Acting I or Technical Theatre, grades 10-12)

Explore the art of theatre by participating in the production and performance process! Be in the cast or on the crew of an SDA theatre production and earn Visual and Performing Arts credit. ***Please note this class will require after school and weekend work on the production.


Advanced Drama Honors

(Prerequisite: Drama Production or Musical Theatre Production, grades 11-12)

This course will offer the advanced theater student an in-depth understanding of the impact theatre styles have had upon theatrical development. The student will explore historical perspectives in acting as well as theatre design, and will examine these through discussion, research, and practical application. This course will aid the theatre student in preparations for professional auditions and technical interviews. Students will create portfolios that will showcase their theatrical endeavors and accomplishments.


Introduction to Career Technology Education (CTE) Wheel-Theatre Arts Rotation

(No Prerequisite, all Freshmen will participate in this 15 day introduction to Theatre Arts)

Students will be introduced to the principles, skills, and processes of theatre art, including improvisation, acting, the production process, and the fundamentals of technical theatre and design.
