About the Fellowship

Overview:

National Board Certification is a pathway for professional growth and salary advancement. By successfully completing National Board Certification, Texas teachers automatically receive a Recognized designation and can earn $3,000 – $9,000 in additional state funding for their school, per year, per teacher (90% of which must go toward teacher salary). In addition, certification fees are reimbursed by the state.

Our Fellowship:

In partnership with BloomBoard, the School Innovation Collaborative is excited to support our teachers in earning National Board Certification. The total cost of program support and certification fees is typically in excess of $4,000; however, if you are selected, we will be covering ALL costs for our fellows.

Program Supports:

The Fellowship enables educators to focus on improving their instructional practice and preparing for successful National Board Certification. To ensure fellows are set up for success, the program includes the following support:

  • 1:1 coaching w/ a nationally board certified teacher

  • access to exemplars/resources

  • cohort model with network and peer support

Program Commitments:

As part of this fellowship, we ask for a few commitments from our fellows:

1) Demonstrate a Mutual Commitment: The work of our best teachers is elevated when we work together for transformational results. We want great educators from across the country to work in our schools and work together to elevate the profession. This can be accomplished if A) we are fully committed to your success as a fellow, and B) you make a two year commitment to work with our collaborative during the course of the fellowship.

2) Make an Earnest Effort: This certification requires a strong commitment and determination. We also recognize the teachers are asked to go above and beyond on a daily basis. Fellows need to be prepared to make

3) Use Your Voice: Our collaborative firmly believes that we need to elevate the voice and status of our educators and those closest to our kids. In this light, we ask that fellows be willing to use their voice and platform to advocate for the profession and be willing to celebrate the work in order to build awareness. This could include being featured in news releases to meeting with legislators.

4) Attend Our Teacher Celebration Event: On an annual basis, we host a teacher celebration event and request all fellows attend. This event is an opportunity to celebrate the work of phenomenal teachers across the collaborative and promote a culture conducive to attracting and retaining the best of the best in the profession. AND, it will be a blast!
