"I decided to pursue National Board Certification to gain in depth knowledge and growth of my teaching profession. I would also like to develop and strengthen my individual teaching practices through the National Board Certifications five components."

What will earning your National Board Certification mean to you?

Earning a National Board Certification means that I have a better understanding of my own practice and how I can transfer it into student success.

What motivated you to join the fellowship?

When I first heard about the program, what made me excited and eager to move forward was my support system at school and home. I love learning different ways of growing my practice, being able to do this with other educators and for the benefit of our students is a plus. I was excited to know that I would be working alongside some great leaders so it was easy to move forward with it.

What are your early impressions of the fellowship?

It is early in my journey, however some first impressions are the tedious work we are asked to complete. It is a great way to constantly analyze, change and adjust our practice for our students. I have found that going back to initial lesson plans or student data to analyze what works and what we can change is impactful. I know that I have a long way to go, but know that I am not in it alone.

What do you hope to get out of the fellowship (aside from your certification)?

I hope to gain some great knowledge and even a transformational outlook to our teaching profession.
