Irma Barton

"I decided to pursue National Board Certification to further strengthen my teaching practices and to share the vision in my profession. In addition, I believe higher quality teaching practices will be delivered once I’ve completed the program."

What will earning your National Board Certification mean to you?

Earning a National Board Certification would be a great opportunity to expand my career and grow professionally.

What motivated you to join the fellowship?

When I first heard about the program, it was the compensation to accomplished teachers that made me realize that those of us receiving base pay would finally be rewarded financially.

What are your early impressions of the fellowship?

Yes, most definitely early in this journey, and my impression so far includes a positive outlook of an impact toward higher quality teaching practices. Becoming Board Certified would be icing on the cake!

What do you hope to get out of the fellowship (aside from your certification)?

My hope is that this program emcompasses support and understanding of the body of knowledge of accomplished practices to the teaching profession. I also hope to become a great leader in my school, district, and state.
