At Mid-Shore Scholars, we believe that complexity and joy can be interwoven to develop self-learners who are motivated, successful, and excited. Our curriculum to create classically thoughtful, excellent, multi-dimensional individuals who care passionately about their character, their learning, and their community.
Each Scholar will have use of a chromebook, MSS Google account, and other resources necessary to succeed
The program will cover ...
We will be reading the One Maryland One Book titles each semester, along with writing a variety of essays to prepare scholars for their college essay. In addition, there will be continued focus on vocabulary and grammar.
Scholars will be tasked with math projects that will require research, analysis, critical thinking, collaboration, and presentation skills. At MSS, we are interested in developing the whole scholar, not just the academics. Success in life is multi-faceted. It's our job to help scholars be successful both in high school, college, and beyond.
Through one-to-one and group college readiness preparation we will focus on: the financial aid (FAFSA) process, college admissions, researching and applying for scholarship opportunities, choosing the "best fit" school that meets their individual needs, and cultivating relationships with admissions officers and a wide range of universities.
Soft skills are critical in life. Getting into college is both a matter of academic and soft skill such as resilience, determination, collaboration, etc. The same can be said for landing your first job, and all of life's experiences that follow. Everything we do at MSS has a soft skill component. In fact, it's a big part of how we measure ourselves.
