Faculty and Staff

Adam Herring is the artistic theatrical director for Colbert Heights Theatre Arts.  Adam teaches English and theatre full-time at CHHS. He has a bachelor's degree in education and a Masters of Arts in English, both from the University of North Alabama.  In addition to directing shows, Adam is involved in various aspects of production, including but not limited to lighting design, sound engineering, and set construction.  Adam attends numerous professional development opportunities throughout the year, looking for new ways to enhance the theatrical arts for his students. Adam is the recipient of numerous regional theatre awards for technical theatre and directing. He also has various acting credits and is a published playwright.  

Adam has a wife and two beautiful boys at home who continually support him.  

Maria Kerstiens is the theatrical director for middle school grades participating in Colbert Heights Theatre Arts. Maria teaches English and theatre full-time at CHHS. She has a bachelor's degree in English education from the University of North Alabama. Before her time at CHHS, Maria performed in numerous community productions, then founded and directed a theatre program for a local middle school. She specializes in acting and musical theatre, and she is especially interested in the role theatre plays in developing students' self-confidence and other social-emotional skills.
