LCDR Daniel Meyer

Lieutenant Commander Meyer is a native of Riverbank, CA. He is a graduate of San Diego City College where he received his Associate of Arts Degree, as well as, California State University Sacramento where he received his Bachelor of Vocational Education.

LCDR Meyer first enlisted in the United States Navy as a Seaman Recruit (E-1). Once advanced to Chief Petty Officer, he was selected for and commissioned as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO). Soon thereafter, CWO Meyer was selected for the Limited Duty Officer program and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. LCDR Meyer’s enlisted sea tours include the USS Reeves (DLG/CG 24), homeported in Pearl Harbor, HI.; USS Orleck (DD 886), homeported in Tacoma, WA.; and commissioning crew of Vincennes (CG 49), homeported in San Diego, CA.. His officer sea assignments include Damage Control Assistant, USS St. Louis (LKA 116), homeported in Sasebo, Japan; Damage Control Assistant, USS Guadalcanal (LPH 7), homeported in Norfolk, VA.; Engineering Officer, USS Copeland (FFG 25), homeported in San Diego, CA; and Commissioning Engineering Officer, USS Decatur (DDG 73), homeported in San Diego, CA. His shore tour assignments included Develop and Training Center; Ships Intermediate and Maintenance Activity; Special Boat Unit, Eleven; Commander Naval Air Force, Atlantic; Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV); and, Fleet Technical Support Center Pacific, San Diego, California. LCDR Meyer retired in 2004 after an impressive 30 year naval career.

While in the Navy, LCDR Meyer was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, six Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Combat Action ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal, and various other personal and unit medals and ribbons.

After retiring from active duty, LCDR Meyer received his Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) teaching certification and immediately began a teaching career. He first taught Naval Science at Lincoln High School. Stockton, CA for two years then transferred to Turlock High School, Turlock California. After teaching for five years at Turlock High School, LCDR Meyer moved to Port Orchard Washington and taught for three years at South Kitsap High School. in 2014 he moved to Carson City, and is now the Senior Naval Science Instructor at Carson High School NJROTC unit. While at South Kitsap High School, LCDR Meyer was awarded the Area Thirteen Instructor of the Year Award for the 2011 – 2012 school year.
