World Read Aloud Day

LitWorld founded World Read Aloud Day (WRAD) in 2010 because we believe reading is powerful. Studies show that individuals who frequently read are better able to understand other people, empathize with them and see the world from their perspective. Reading aloud not only 1 helps develop literacy skills like word mastery and grammatical understanding, but it also builds 2 community and connects us to each other. On World Read Aloud Day, people all around the globe read aloud and share stories to advocate for literacy as a human right.

You can find more information online at LitWorld website.

Don't Judge a Book by It's Cover

Mrs. Manning will choose books for students that want to participate during February 1-14th.  Students will then read it completely, and fill out a "Rate Your Date" slip.  These slips are turned in to be put into a raffle for a Sweet Treat.

Read Across America Week

NEA's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.

Here at Fulton we like to celebrate the week leading up to the legendary Dr. Seuss's birthday.  In the library students will listen to the book of the day and complete an activity.  Students are also encouraged to dress according to the book of the day (see below).  Classrooms will participate in a bulletin board contest judged at the end of the week.
