College & Advanced Placement Courses

St. Charles West offers 12 advanced placement courses.  An AP course gives the students both high school credit and college credit for qualifying AP exam scores.  Generally speaking, students earn a 3,4, or 5 on the 5-point scale will receive three or more hours of college credit from the college/university where their scores are sent.  Students should contact their chosen college/university for the institution's catalog, its web site or go to www.collegeboard.com/testing and use the college search feature.

The Advanced Placement courses currently offered at St. Charles West include the following:

Students may also earn high school and college credit by taking classes that are offered through the St. Louis University 1818 program.  Students will earn 3 or 4 credit hours each semester by successfully completing the course (a C average minimum) and remitting a fee to St. Louis University for each class.

The following classes are available through this program:
  • College Composition 1 & 2 (3 credits each)
  • College United States History 1 & 2 (3 credits each)
  • Calculus I (4 credits)
  • College Psychology is one semester course in which students can earn 3 college credit hours through Lindenwood University.  Students must remit a fee to Lindenwood and successfully complete the course with a minimum of a C average.
