Enrollment Night will be next Tuesday, January 26th from 6-8pm. Incoming freshman enrollment information will be provided for parents and this is the time when we will register any parochial/private school students. 

Tis the season for freezin! It's Polar Bear Plunge time. Please help support Special Olympics by joining our school's team as we dip into the frigid winter waters at the Lake St. Louis plunge on Feb. 6th. If you have any questions, or need help signing up see Kirsten Beer or Ms. Kelpe or Ms. Surbeck.

School Cancellations: In the event of severe or inclement weather, the City of St. Charles School district may choose to dismiss students from school early or cancel events and/or classes for the day. The cancellations are announced through a variety of media outlets including School Messenger, district Facebook, district Twitter feeds, TV channels 2, 4, 5 and 30, as well as the following radio stations: KMOX (1120am), WIL (92FM). You can also check the websites for: KEZK & Y98.  Also; be extra careful on the sidewalks if we do get precipitation. 

School Messenger Notification Service: The School Messenger System is an automated message system utilized by the City of St. Charles School District. District-wide information messages will be sent periodically with news including: uinclement weather alerts and cancellations, uemergency alerts, ucommunity meeting notifications, special event reminders. Please keep your telephone number and email address up-to-date on your children's emergency card in order to ensure you receive the important messages!

We are now recycling batteries. The recycling bucket is in the SCWest Library. We take Alkaline, Lithium, NiCD, NiMH, Rechargeable, Laptop Batteries, Button Cell, Coin Cell and Cordless Tool Batteries.

Students: You can check your grades online. Your log in and password are the same as your computer log in and password. Just click here --> GRADES

Bus Pass Policy: If your child wants to ride home from school w/another student or a student wants to come home with your child on the bus after school, parents' of both students must send a note to school. Notes must be brought to the main office first thing in the morning (or as early as possible)! A bus pass will be written, signed by the principal and then scanned over to the transportation department to make sure there is space on the bus for an additional student. IF your child is getting off at a different stop, on their own bus be sure to send a note saying so as well! ONLY eligible bus riders can get bus passes.

Pizza Fundraiser for Exchange is due January 28th.

Student Council's 2nd annual "Trivia Crack" night has been rescheduled for Wed. February 3rd at 6pm. It will be held in the commons. Teams of 8, $15. Sign up outside of Ms. Leu's room B117.

Hot Topics from Guidance

St. Charles Community College is having a Career Expo for sophomores and juniors on Feb. 26. This is on a Friday and we do not have school. This event will provide students with the opportunity to learn about careers and course offerings. You need to register to attend. Stop by Guidance for more information.

SENIORS, as you request transcripts in Parchment, remember if the school is needing your 7th semester transcript (this semester), you need to select "Hold" for next grading period. Those transcripts will be sent in January after grades are recorded.

Seniors: if you plan on majoring in journalism, music, theater or art you have a chance to win $500.00 scholarship. Go to www.stcharlesart.org or the guidance office.

Current freshman, sophomores and juniors: Wash U has many exciting summer programs. If you are interested in medicine, engineering, writing, leadership, environment studies, philosophy, neuroscience or psychology stop by guidance.

Juniors: There is a new Coolidge Scholars Program that offers a full ride scholarship for 4 years. The plan is to select a minimum of 2 Scholars in the United States. Deadline is March 18th. Go to Coolidgescholars.org for an application.

Freshman: Are you interested in attending a 4 day leadership seminar. If so, stop by and see Mrs. Percy.

Any Senior that is a member of the Vantage Credit Union there is a $1000 scholarship available, come to Guidance for more information.

Seniors: The following are admissions based deadlines to be considered for certain scholarships for the following schools. This means you just have to apply by the following dates. UMKC: Jan. 15, UMSL: March 1.

The University of Kansas has expanded it's Midwest Exchange Program for the 2016-17 school year to include all majors. This means if you have at least a 24 on ACT and a 3.25 GPA you will get instate tuition if you choose to be a Jayhawk!

TRANSCRIPTS: Any student needing to have a copy of the High School Transcript sent for college applications or NCAA will need to sign on to www.parchment.com and create an account. All transcripts are sent electronically. If your college does not accept the electronic transcripts you will need to select "mail" option. Please be aware that the college you want to attend will need a preliminary transcript upon application, a midyear (in January) transcript and once you have been accepted to the school of your choice a FINAL transcript in June.

Sports/Athletics Announcement

Any girls interested in playing soccer this spring should attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, January 20th at 2:45 in the commons. See Mrs. Holtgrewe in Activities if you have any questions!

Attention Football and Baseball players. After school workouts will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. The weight room will be closed Monday and Friday.

Want to participate in a Sport?  First, you MUST come to the Activities Office prior to tryouts and obtain a tryout card. This card needs to be signed by Mr. Oetting (activities director) verifying you have all the needed paperwork to participate. Coaches will no longer be collecting paperwork and they will not allow you to participate until the card is received. In order to participate, the following must be completed:
  1. Sports Physical completed by a doctor dated AFTER February 1st, 2015
  2. Proof of health insurance (copy of card OR plan and plan number)
  3. Signature by parent(s) and athlete indicating they have reviewed the concussion material included in the paperwork.
  4. Signature page indicating parents and athlete have reviewed the St. Charles West Student/Athlete code of Conduct
  5. Emergency Contact Form for coaches usage
All of the above items are located in the Activities Office or in the round turnstile outside the main office. * IF you played a fall sport, all items will be on file and they can simply submit the Tryout card that is available in the Activities office. In order to participate in any sport, all athletes must have a physical form on file. Blank physical forms are available in the turnstile next to main office, in the activities office, OR can be printed from this website, under the Athletics tab. Physical's must be dated on/or after Feb. 1, 2015 to be eligible for the 2015-16 school year.
