Greetings, Garden Ridge family and friends! This is my sixth year to be the counselor at GRE and my 20th year in education. I'm so excited to be a Gator! Before coming to LISD, I was an elementary school counselor in another DFW district for 6 years and a teacher before then. I taught 7th grade Spanish in Oklahoma and then 3rd and 4th grade ESL here in Texas.
A little about me- I'm not a native Texan. I was born and raised in Oklahoma and still go back often to visit my family there. I received my undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in elementary education and a minor in Spanish. After teaching for a while in Texas, I decided I wanted to be able to work with the whole student, to help them through more than just academic struggles. I went to the University of North Texas to get my master's in counseling and have been working as a school counselor ever since.
I am married to an amazing LISD Art teacher, get to be stepmom to an outstanding freshman basketball player, enjoy playing with my two crazy pups at home, and (surprise) will be having a baby in January 2021! My life outside of school is busy and chaotic, but I love my sweet family!
I'm excited to be the GRE counselor and willing to help out however needed. Please feel free to contact me below with any questions or concerns. Thanks so much!
