Akiko Nawata, M.Div., PMCPC, PMCTS, LMHC

Akiko has a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and two Postmaster’s Certificates from Seattle University, in Transforming Spirituality and in Pastoral Counseling. She is a licensed Mental Health Counselor, and an Asian/Pacific Islander Ethnic Minority Mental Health Specialist. She received training as a Developmental Disability Mental Health Specialist at WIMHRT   (Washington Institute for Mental Health Research and Training) and has counseled persons with DD, autism, literacy, and learning difference issues. Her special interests also include rebirth and nurturing after abuse, transitions, depression and grief, anxiety, life goals, family and relationship skills, psycho-spiritual growth, identity and self-integration. Akiko has lived on three continents, Asia, Europe and North America, among people with various social and spiritual backgrounds. This experience seasons her clinical practice with a special appreciation of diversity.
