Floor Hockey

Floor Hockey Rules Simplified

Object: The object of the game is to score more goals than your opponent by shooting the puck into the opponents net.

Length of Contest: A game consists of two 15-minute periods, with a 2-minute break between each period. At the end of the game, the team with the most goals wins. If in the event of a Tie, each team will receive one (1) point, then a “Shoot-Out” will take place with each team choosing three shooters. The team with the most goals after the “Shoot-Out” will be awarded an additional point.

Team Members: A typical team has 6 players:

* 1 Goalie

* 1 Center

* 2 Forwards

* 2 Defensemen

(One) GOALIE: Protector of the goal. The goalie can use their hands, feet, or any part of his/her body to stop shots coming into the net. Goalies in the crease are allowed to play the puck with both hands and stick.

(One) CENTER: A player who may travel between the offensive and defensive zones to help assist defending and/or setting up Forwards to score. Usually, this is the teams’ most skilled player and is identified by his “Stripped” stick.

(Two) DEFENSEMEN: A defensive player who tries to keep the puck out of their goal and defensive area. These players are limited to the defensive zone and guard the opponents attacking Forwards.

(Two) FORWARDS: An offensive player who works with their Center in scoring goals. They are limited to the offensive zone, but may help out on defense without crossing the center line.
