During the month of December 2010, the Ericsson Eagles Leo’s Club from John Ericsson Middle School 126, Magnet School for Environmental Engineering sponsored a “Toys for Tots” toy drive. They were able to collect over 100 toys from students, parents and staff members. All the toys collected were given out by Santa to the children of Francis of Paola Learning Center. The Ericsson Leo club members volunteered numerous hours collecting and distributing the toys. The Leo’s are supported by the Greenpoint Lions Club a non-profit organization who has worked with our students, staff and families over the past three years. John Ericsson Middle School 126 is the first Leo’ Club in North Brooklyn.

The principal, Rosemary Ochoa of John Ericsson Middle School 126, Magnet School for Environmental Engineering strongly believes that community service builds a child’s overall character and confidence. A strong learning environment combined with community service helps our students understand the world around them and the importance of helping our neighborhood and its residents.
