Weekly Update
This week was a GREAT week! We are finally settling into our routine and continuing to learn our classroom rules. See below for all the things we will be working on this week. Also, I do realize that writing down the homework in the homework books is new to ALL the kids. There will be hiccups along the way and a forgotten book or worksheet here and there. I do my very best to check their homework books and star or initial them. If you are having problems reading or figuring it out please let me know. Please make sure that all children are well prepared for the hot days ahead. Children are allowed to keep water (plastic bottles or personal water bottles) on their desks. Although we have water fountains around school, on these hot days they get very hot and the water is also very warm! I will be sending home the Raz-Kids and IXL passwords this week also. Although I do not require Raz-Kids reading nightly, I do think the program has great benefits to the children. I want the children to enjoy anything they are reading. If that is a chapter book or a particular author then I want them to concentrate on that. Raz-Kids is a great tool for practice in fluency and comprehension. It also allows you to monitor your child's progress. I will, however, require IXL at different points during the year as homework. It is especially helpful while students are learning their multiplication facts. As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns throughout the year! |
