Mrs. Horne

This will be my 13th year as a teacher. I am originally from just outside of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Child Studies from the University of Guelph. After that, I earned my Bachelor of Education in Primary/Junior Education from the University of Western Ontario. After moving to California I earned my Reading Specialist Credential and Master of Education in Reading from the University of La Verne. I have experience working with a wide range of students from varying grade levels and I spent two years at White Oak Elementary in Westlake Village as their Reading Specialist. I worked with small groups of students from kindergarten to fifth grade. Prior to that, I was a stay at home mom for eight years. I taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade for eight years before Brandon and Connor were born.

I have been married for over 13 years to my husband, Roger and we have two boys. Brandon loves lego, animals, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Minecraft. He wants to be a veterinarian when he grows up. Connor loves reading, Pokemon, Hot Wheels and Minecraft. He wants to be a basketball player when he grows up. We also have a Brittany Spaniel named Cooper and a black cat, named Danae. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, snuggling with my dog, reading, cooking, visiting Disneyland and traveling. I also have a creative side that likes to sneak out once in a while and I have created numerous soccer banners for my boys' soccer teams and their classrooms and I love planning their birthday parties and decorating special cakes for their big day!
