Mrs. Horne
This will be my 20th year as a teacher. I am originally from just outside of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Child Studies from the University of Guelph. After that, I earned my Bachelor of Education in Primary/Junior Education from the University of Western Ontario. After moving to California I earned my Reading Specialist Credential and Master of Education in Reading from the University of La Verne. I have experience working with a wide range of students from varying grade levels and I spent two years at White Oak Elementary in Westlake Village as their Reading Specialist. I worked with small groups of students from kindergarten to fifth grade. Prior to that, I was a stay at home mom for eight years. I taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade for eight years before my kids were born.
I have been married for over 20 years to my husband, Roger and we have two kids. Brandon is a sophomore at Cal Poly Pomona and Connor is in 12th grade. We also have a Brittany Spaniel named Cooper, a Chocolate Lab named Zoey and a Tuxedo Cat named Gizmo. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, snuggling with my dogs, reading, cooking, visiting Disneyland and traveling.
