Performing Dance

Synopsis:

LCHS Performing Dance is one of the most successful clubs at Cruces High being around for over 25 years! Each year having an enrollment of 80-100 students, it is also one of the largest. Recently. Taken over by Lisette Tarin/Martinez, this program introduces kids to the different styles of dance including ballet, jazz, cotemporary, tap, and most of all hip-hop! Along with performing at all of our assemblies, school events, and sporting events, they also have numerous public performance opportunities. Our students have showcased their talents at NMSU basketball games, Look Who’s Dancing event, High Heels for High Hopes, and other city-wide events. They put a tremendous amount of effort and time into their training and work hard to produce an end of the showcase. This impressive performance, includes anywhere from 20-26, student created, taught, and lead dances. The success of this program is undeniable and it continues to expand and get better each year our school is open. Anyone is able and welcome to join, as dance experience is not a required prerequisite. The students of this club, get to grow such a significant, unique bond together over the four years they are a part of Performing Dance.

These students commit both tie in and out of normal school hours, for rehearsals and extra practices for their performances. They learn to work well with other and values the opinion of other individuals. Performing dance, builds teamwork, patience, and teaches the importance of hard work.
