School Direct 2014-15 Recruitment Fair

Maggie Hulson from Gladesmore Community School will be on hand to discuss School Direct and application queries.
The new round of applications, for those wishing to train in the academic year Sept 2014/15, will open via the UCAS system on November 21st 2013. You should use the URL www.ucas.com/teacher-training to ensure you gain access the correct advice, guidance, search tool, and Apply system.
Please do not send any details of your applications to the schools.
Applications are forwarded to the other schools in the partnership as appropriate for due consideration. Candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted and invited to participate in the selection process by one of the partnership schools. You will need to provide two professional referees and will be invited to complete a school specific Application Form. We do not inform candidates if they have not been shortlisted, although the status of your application will be regularly updated on the UCAS website.
Prior to appointment, formal checks will be made in accordance with the current requirements relating to child protection this will include an enhanced DBS check.

Mon 3rdFeb 2014- first interview day
Mon 3rdMarch 2014- second interview day
The first of these three days will be an open day. This will provide you with an opportunity to visit the school, meet with the Head Teacher and the Professional Mentor, and ask questions about the programme.
You should then submit applications via the UCAS system, within 5 days of the open morning.
Mon 3rd February is our first interview day. After careful perusal of application forms, we will invite successful applicants to attend, and for the first part of the day they will be given the opportunity to demonstrate skills in working with young people in an informal group setting, take part in a discussion and carry out a lesson planning exercise.
Should this section of the day go well, then applicants will be invited to stay on for the rest of the day and work in the classroom alongside experienced teachers, as well as take a numeracy test, a formal writing test, and have a short interview with the Head teacher.
Those applicants who are successful on their first interview day will be invited to a second interview on Mon 3rd March. We will then hold formal selection interviews and provide applicants with the opportunity to teach a lesson in their subject.
