Music GCSE

Course Outline
The GCSE qualification is a highly exciting course but at the same time it is very challenging. It involves a combination of Coursework and External Examinations and all work involves some aspect of Moderation and Marking by the Teachers as well as Moderation by OCR Exam Board Officials.

This course is being offered by the Music Department but there is also a requirement of a minimum of a Grade 4 on your main instrument in order that you would be considered for the course.

The GCSE Course is made up of four mandatory units/areas of study, two of which are externally assessed.

Unit TitleEntry Duration  Weighting

Although this is a very intense course, it is designed in order that students who have been having private tuition on an instrument or those that are particularly skilled on their instrument can take up this option with the intent of furthering their studies for a Music A Level.
