2023 Summer/Fall Calendar

Since many of you are already beginning to plan summer vacations, I am releasing our summer and fall calendar now. Please plan accordingly so students can be in attendance. One change is that we will have Summer Chop Builder rehearsals throughout the summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These are not mandatory rehearsals, but if students are in town they are expected to attend. It is crucial to our success that students are in attendance for band camp. See below for the calendar.

NGHS Band 2023-24 Calendar

October 19

Good morning! We had a great day on Saturday coming away with 1st place in our class and only half a point away from grand champion! Yesterday's rehearsal went really well and I think the students understand now what they need to do to continue to get better. There is no football game or competition this weekend. Enjoy the time off!

Senior Night

Senior Night is next Friday, October 28. Parents, you are invited to join us for dinner at 5:00. Your son/daughter will be honored for their service to the band during halftime. Each senior will be escorted onto the field by his/her parent(s)/guardian(s). Please fill out the form below so that we may include this information in our acknowledgement of your son/daughter. If you have any questions, please let me know. I look forward to seeing you on the 28th. Below is the schedule for the game.

There's lots of important information here, so please read it carefully.

Williamsburg Trip Deposits

The $50 deposit for the Williamsburg trip was due on Friday. If you have not turned this in yet, please do so this week so we can make our first payment. We want everyone to go. If there is an issue with getting this paid, please just let me know and we can work something out. We also still need one at least one more couple to go on the trip with us.

BBQ

BBQ tickets are now being sold. Students received 5 tickets last week and may get more once they turn in the money for those. Tickets are $15 each unless a business purchases 10 or more plates. Then, they are $12. There is an online order form and a sign up sheet you can take to a business to have people sign up for a plate. Bulk orders from a business do not need actual tickets. We need all money, sign up sheets, and leftover tickets turned in by this Thursday, October 6 so we can have Richard order the food. Depending on how many are sold at that point, we may continue selling after that date. Let me know if you have any questions.

NOGA Band BBQ Sale

NOGA Band BBQ Flyer/Sign-up Sheet

Our biggest need right now is having people to work concessions. We only have two people signed up at this point. We need to know in advance that we are going to have people in the different volunteer areas. We cannot just wait for people to show up Saturday morning. If you have not signed up for an area, please do so today so we can plan accordingly. This is a major undertaking and we need every family to help out. See below for the sign up link.

We will be at Freedom High School on October 15 and East Burke High School on October 29. Then, we finish the season with the Gaston County Marching Band Fanfare at Stuart Cramer on November 5. More info on these to come later.

Wildcat Invitational

We are less than two weeks away from the Wildcat Invitational! There are still lots of volunteer positions available and we must fill every one of them. Our goal for this contest is to provide a solid educational and fun experience for the bands in attendance. The only way to do that is to be able to have every facet running smoothly. If you have not already signed up, please consider where you can serve. We cannot afford to wait until the last minute to fill these spots. We need the assurance well ahead of time that these are going to be covered.

We have four of the necessary 12 trucks and trailers signed up for. If you or someone you know can help us out here, please let me know or sign up as soon as possible. We also need more trophy sponsors and ads for the program. All of the links and documents are below. Please help us out however you can. Thank you!

We have several volunteer spots still available for our home football game next Friday. We need someone to provide the pre-game meal, halftime snack, and sell 50-50 tickets. Wildcat Invitational

Our most pressing need for the Invitational is knowing how many trucks and trailers we will have. If you have an open trailer to haul band equipment to and from the stadium and parking lot, please sign up using the link below. If you can also haul it yourself with a truck or ATV, sign up for that as well. We need 12 of these, and so far only have one.

September 11, 2022

Good afternoon! I'm excited to be back this week and looking forward to working on our show again. Here is some more information about our upcoming Wildcat Invitational.

We will begin setting up for the event on Friday, October 7 after school. The band will not be going to the away game that night so we can get many things set up for Saturday. Volunteers will be needed from right after school until about 8:00. On Saturday, we meet at 7am to go over final details and then spend the next few hours preparing each station. Volunteers will be fed lunch before the first bands start arriving around 12:00. The contest will run into the evening with awards at 8:30 and then we have to clean everything up. That process takes until at least 11:00. If you are unable to commit to the entire day but still want to help out, let me know what time you would be available and I can let you know where you can best serve. Our biggest need at this point is securing trucks, trailers, and drivers for all the bands' equipment. If you can help out in this way, please sign up on Sign Up Genius.

We also need to secure ads for the program and sponsors for trophies. If you have contacts with our area businesses, please reach out to them about these. We will also accept sponsors and ads from individuals. Getting these will really help cut down on the cost of this event and increase our profit. Here are the links for these.
