Hi there! I am Mrs. Dudley and I will be your students' science teacher this year. I have been at DuBray for 12 years and have enjoyed every minute of it. I am married and have three children, Brooke, Drew and Taylor. Drew is my only son sandwiched between the girls. I love to read and watch and play sports.  All of my children play sports and I played volleyball and basketball as well. I also like to shop, but who doesn't?!

This year we will learn and master the metrics, Independent/Dependent variables, observations and inferring. We will also work extensively on the scientific method and graphing. We will learn these skills in a variety of ways, such as note taking, reading, experiments, activities, projects and paper and  pencil tasks. These are the basic skills your student will need to be successful in any of their science classes from now until they finish college. We work pretty hard in class which means there will be little homework. I consider studying for tests homework, but many students do not, including my own children! I will give a study guide for each test at least a week in advance and will attach a copy to this page as well.

In addition to the basic science skills we will be learning, we will study rocks and minerals, plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes, fossils, astronomy and weather. As you can see, we have a lot to cover and learn in the year. Attendance is so important for success in middle school. I don't assign a lot of worksheets in class because I think the students will learn so much more by doing actual labs than by completing a worksheet. Because of that, it is hard to make up what is missed in class. It's not a matter of giving a packet to learn the concepts when a student is absent. I understand that illness and family things come up, and an absence or two is inevitable.  I just wanted to emphasize that we cover so much in an hour, it is more difficult to make up the learning than it was in elementary school.

I look forward to another great year at DuBray and can't wait to get to know your student! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me at
Together I know we are going to have the best 6th grade experience ever!

Please make sure your email address is up to date in SIS / Parent Portal so I can invite you to join your child's Google Classroom site. That will be my primary means of communication.
