Welcome to ELA with 6 Purple!  I'm Mrs. Mundle, and I am so incredibly excited to be launching into my first year of teaching! I'm eager to not only get to know each of my amazing students, but to instill in them a love for the English language that may be new to them up until this point in their education. It is my hope that they will realize that, although reading strategies and writing mechanics are extremely important, ELA is about so much more. For it is through language that we communicate our experiences-- our struggles, hopes, and dreams. It is through language that we communicate with those whose stories deserve to be told. It is through language that we change the world for the better.

Throughout the year, we will explore stories in which people are doing just that. We will learn to purposefully reflect on those stories, thinking critically and responding to them through writing. We will also be working extensively on vocabulary and grammar, because we want that writing to be the best it can be.

If you ever have any questions about what your child is working on throughout the school year, feel free to checkout my Planbook account (see link below). There, you will find a list of what we did each day, as well as any handouts or attachments that may be useful to that day's lesson. If that doesn't answer your question, please don't hesitate to reach me by email.

I cannot wait to get started with 6th grade, and I am confident that this will be a year in which each student will gain knowledge, confidence and independence!
