Welcome to the 2017-18 Timber Trail School Year!

It was great to see so many of you at the “Meet & Greet” today.  We are looking forward to a wonderful school year.  We will see everyone tomorrow for the first day of school.

Below is a reminder about several Timber Trail Policies.  Please take a few minutes to share these with your students.  We thank you for your help and support.

TTE DRESS CODE:

Dressing appropriately for all school functions is a way of showing Timber Trail pride.  Neatness and cleanliness are the hallmarks of appropriate dress.  If the staff feels that any of the dress codes have been violated, parents will be called to bring a change of clothing for their student.  Good judgment in dress is expected at Timber Trail.  In an effort to promote a safe and educationally sound environment for the students, the following dress code will be in effect at Timber Trail Elementary:

1. No low-cut/revealing tops of any kind.  Tank tops must have a strap of at least three finger widths.  No-off the shoulder tops of any kind.  Sweaters, shirts, or jackets must be worn at all times over tops with spaghetti straps.  Sports bras and bra and cami straps must be covered at all times. No baggy shirts with large armhole which bras can be seen from the side.

2. No high-cut/revealing shorts or skirts of any kind.  Shorts and skirts must be even or longer than the tip of the middle finger when arms are straight down at sides.  We ask that girls wear shorts under skirts and dresses to help with modesty while sitting on the floor and during recess.  We know that it may be hard to find longer length shorts, so we ask that leggings, jeans, or capris be worn instead.

3. Baseball caps, hats, stocking caps, visors may not be worn inside the building.  This includes the hoods of pullover sweatshirts.

If students are found to be in violation of any part of the dress code, a call will be made home to have parents/guardian bring a change of clothing.  If parents can not be reached, sweatpants and t-shirt will be available for students to wear for the day.  Thank you for your help and support.

SPINNERS:

Fidget spinners are not allowed at Timber Trail.  If you feel that your student would benefit from a fidget item, please contact your child’s teacher to discuss other options.

CELL PHONES:

We ask that students not bring cell phones to school.  Students will be able to use school phones if they need to contact their parents.  We understand that some parents may want their students to have a cell phone so they can call them when they are dropped off at their bus stop.  In that case the cell phone must stay in the backpack while on school property.  Timber Trail can not accept responsibility for any lost, broken or stolen phones.

ITEMS FROM HOME:

Students are not to bring non academic items from home.  These include sports equipment, electronics, toys, trading cards, stuffed animals, etc.  Occasionally teachers may allow students to bring items for celebrations.  That will be communicated by the teacher to the parents.
