Dear Timber Trail Families,

As some of you may know, construction will soon begin on Legacy Village, a senior housing center to be built on the empty lot directly to the east of Timber Trail between Monarch and Bristolwood.  We look forward to the many learning and sharing opportunities the residents of Legacy Village will provide our students in the future.

Last week I met with the City of Castle Pines, project developer (Western States), construction coordinators (Shaw Construction) and district personnel. Our plan is to have weekly communication between Shaw Construction and myself as to what work will be occurring.  I will share this information with you in our weekly email blast.  This week surveying was to begin, along with Xcel capping off existing gas lines.  Perimeter fencing is scheduled to go up today (Friday, August 26).

At the meeting I shared that my biggest concern was the possible increase in traffic and heavy equipment during arrival and dismissal times.  Shaw Construction said that almost all of their traffic will enter and exit the site along Monarch.  This includes workers who will be asked to park on the construction site and not on Bristolwood.  I also want to take this opportunity to remind Timber Trail families that parking is not allowed on Bristolwood once it enters the Crossing neighborhood.  The streets in the Crossing are private property and not public streets.  Also as construction begins, we ask that you also be extra vigilant when dropping off or picking up your children on Bristolwood.

Thanks for your help and support.  Do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

Michele Radke, Principal

RAIN & LIGHTNING DISMISSAL DELAY
Yesterday we experienced our first lightning dismissal delay in a few years.  We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we worked to keep your children and the staff safe.
If there is lightning in the area, we will hold all students and staff inside the building until it is safe.  If you are picking up your child, you are welcome to come inside to get them.  If there is rain, but no lightning, we will go ahead and have bus riders load the buses and leave as close to their regular time as possible.  Students getting picked up in the car line will wait inside.  Staff members will check with drivers in line and radio inside to have students come to their car.
If buses are delayed, we will send out an email and text alert to let parents know.  Again we thank you for your patience and understanding.

MORNING DROP OFF- IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
When dropping off in the morning, please remember that students need to stay inside cars until school staff are outside. We have had students exiting vehicles early and are outside unsupervised for 5-10 minutes.  Typically staff will go out between 8:18 and 8:20 and will be wearing orange vests. Thank you for helping keep our students safe.

AFTER HOURS BUILDING ACCESS
A reminder that TTE's office hours are 7:45 am - 4:00 pm.  Access to the building before or after those times is prohibited.  Our Childcare program and evening custodians can not let you or your student into the building outside of those hours because of  liability.  If your child has left their agenda or homework at school, use this as a time to help them learn about natural consequences. Doing so will give your student an opportunity to brainstorm and implement strategies to help them in the future.
