Dear Timber Trail Elementary School Families,

As we work towards promoting student wellness in all areas, we want to ensure that every student in Douglas County has a better understanding of protective factors and the power of getting help. Every year people in Douglas County find themselves in need of support as they care for themselves or loved ones who have had suicide ideation or have lost a loved one to suicide.

When we look at potential explanations for suicide, we want to highlight protective factors around suicide.

Based on students’ development levels, we will explore this topic with our students:

  • Elementary, Middle and High school students will know what protective factors are and who their sources of support are.

We encourage you to support our efforts by discussing this month’s topic of Protective Factors Around Suicide with your student. Check us out next month when we offer: Awareness Around School Violence.

Your child’s safety is of the utmost importance, and Timber Trail Elementary  will do all we can to support every student’s well-being. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Ms. Radke, Principal, or Mrs. Goering, School Psychologist. Please consider the resources offered on the  PREVENTION and SCHOOL CULTURE (https://www.dcsdk12.org/prevention-and-school-culture) website if you want to learn more about this topic.

In Partnership,

Michele Radke- Principal

Nicole Goering, Ed.S., NCSP- Licensed School Psychologist
